Although the company is called FedEx today it was named the Federal Express Corporation when it was founded in 1998. The company revolutionized the logistics services with its many innovations. The name was changed to FedEx in 2000. The company combined the services of many logistics shippers to create the business it is today.
FedEx took a small package ground shipper, a regional shipper that would provide carriers that would pick up freight without filling the entire carrier and a Caribbean airfreight service. The logistics and technology innovations came from the Caliber portion of the FedEx Corporation. Business kept growing with the purchase of Tower Group International and WorldTariff. These companies provide international logistics and customs duty and tax information. Kinko’s became part of the innovative thinking by FedEx in 2004, which has given FedEx a broader public retail access.
