Chris Bangle is a name that is well known in the automotive industry. He began his career at Opel where he designed the interior of the junior concept car. Chris Bangle then went on to work for Fiat as a chief designer for the Fiat Coupe. In 1992 Chris Bangle had the distinction of being the first American to become the chief of design at BMW. He designed the Z9 Gran Turismo car.
While Chris Bangle had his designs used on the entire BMW line they haven’t always been well received. Chris Bangle produced the design for the E65 7 series BMW and Time magazine gave it a terrible revue in its 50 Worst Cars of All Time. They didn’t like the rear end style or the iDrive. However, this vehicle went on to be the best selling series for BMW.
