Brain freeze is technically a term that is applied to someone who has eaten ice cream too fast. The coldness of the ice cream causes severe pain in the brain, which is what most call a brain freeze. However, one can have a “brain freeze” in innovation as well. This type of brain freeze is a little different.
Rather than the brain experiencing any real pain or eating something cold, an innovation brain freeze is when ideas are not forthcoming. For some reason there is a standstill in the group thinking or innovation department that just causes a freeze on ideas. It is hard to get over, but often the group just has to look for a new strategy in finding and implementing ideas to get things going again.
