Peter Kim

Peter Kim is the president of Merck Research Labs.  Kim went to Stanford and Cornell University to gain a PhD in Biochemistry.  Peter Kim is most well known for the discovery of how proteins cause membranes to fuse.  This is an important aspect of all life.  During his education years Peter Kim studied structural biology in order to make this find about proteins.  Since 2003 Kim has been in a position to oversee all Merck’s drug and vaccine research. 

Peter Kim has worked at MIT and was a member of the Whitehead Institute. Kim has a special interest in research HIV/AIDS trying to find a cure for the disease.  Peter Kim has also been on the National Institutes of Health Committee to help develop an AIDS vaccine.
