Pictures of the Future at Siemens

Siemens innovation 1.jpgSiemens' Pictures of the Future site has a great overview of what the future might look like 10, 20 or even 30 years from now. In areas such as information & communications, transportation, healthcare, and business services, Siemens is working to identify the types of promising technologies and future consumer needs that can then be translated into "business possibilities." Short summaries of these future predictions are also available as PDF files on the Siemens site. (Hat tip: Putting People First)

Siemens innovation 2.jpgFor example, within the information & communications sector, Siemens has identified globalization, individualization, mobility and self-organization as the driving forces of innovation. In turn, rapid innovation within the information & communications sector will have follow-on consequences for areas such as healthcare:

"Tomorrow’s innovative IT and communications solutions will be more powerful than their predecessors, and they will be an important tool for physicians and medical personnel - as well as for health insurance providers and pharmaceutical companies. Home-based care (i.e., medical care of patients in their own homes) will become more widespread. With new procedures and processes for diagnosis and therapy, the vision of medical care customized to a patient’s individual needs will become a reality."
