Athletic Shoe

An athletic shoe is obviously a name for a shoe used in sports.  These shoes have their roots in the early 1900’s when Charles Goodyear decided to use vulcanized rubber to create the soles of the shoes.  Today there are over 15 premium types of shoes in the athletic shoe category.  A few of the shoes on the market come from manufacturers like Nike, Skechers, Timberland, New Balance, and DSW.

What makes an athletic shoe premium is the manufacturing process.  Not all shoes are the same, and since our feet all differ choosing an athletic shoe can come down to what feels the most comfortable.  The typical athletic shoe is going to be white or black with rubber soles.

With as many different manufacturers of shoes and sports out there you can expect to find an athletic shoe that has specific uses.  For example there are racing flats, track shoes, skate shoes, climbing shoes, wrestling shoes, and cleats.  Within these categories there are other types. For example an athletic shoe has high tops to cover the ankles while others will not cover the ankle at all.  The type of shoe used depends on the sport and the support needed for the ankle.

Other top brands of shoes for athletes include Adidas, Fila, K-Swiss, keds, Lacoste, Puma, and Reebok.  Each of these companies may have shoes that look similar, but the fit and comfort will vary.  Some individuals find Nike to be the most comfortable shoe, yet others have had problems with them.
