Google is a search engine. By definition a search engine is a tool that allows a consumer to explore the World Wide Web. A search engine is a database that has been created based on keywords and mathematical algorithms. Google is the top search engine in the world because of their technology.
When Google came onto the scene they wanted to revolutionize the search engine innovation that Yahoo created. Google’s search engine is not based on web directories and human editors. Instead it is a computer with human input. Google’s creation is not one of a kind. Google actually owns a few of the search engines on the internet. While you might not know they own it you can see definite similarities in a few of the lesser known engines.
