His invention is a water powered battery. The battery is currently an AA size. The battery is made of carbon compounds and is activated with a tiny amount of water. You can even lick the battery to get it working, according to the Japanese inventor.
For a small scale battery activating it by licking isn’t bad, but you might not want to do that with a D cell. The Japanese inventor, Suzuki stated that the water based battery can be stored longer than alkaline batteries. It has a slower degradation period according to the Japanese inventor.
