Robert Iger was born in 1951 in California. He studied at Ithaca College and eventually became the president and CEO of the Walt Disney Company. Robert Iger took over as president in 2000, and made CEO in 2005. His education was in broadcasting and radio. Robert Iger joined the American Broadcasting Company in 1973, working up in the ranks. Eventually he became the president of ABC Network Television Group. Robert Iger spent a year in that position. He was then named president and CEO of ABC’s parent corporation.
When Walt Disney Company bought Capital Cities/ ABC and renamed it ABC, Inc., Robert Iger became the president. This ended in 1999. In 1999 Iger was named president of the International section of Walt Disney, overseeing international operations.
