Laissez Faire

Laissez faire is a common term in the world of economics and art.  Laissez faire is a French phrase.  Laissez means to allow or to let.  Faire means to do.  In combination Laissez faire means to let something go or to allow something.  As mentioned the phrase is often applied to economics and art, where deeper meanings can be found in the phrase.

Laissez faire in economics suggests that the government should not interfere in trade, commerce, or the market.  In other words the economy should be let alone so that companies can have their own economic laws.  Laissez faire can also mean to not interfere in another’s affairs.  In art laissez faire is applied to aesthetics and the appeal that art can have, when no influence is given.
