PTSD or post traumatic stress disorder is very common in individuals who have suffered a trauma. Many think PTSD is only related to those in the military, police force, or fire department, but in actuality PTSD can occur in anyone who witnesses or experiences a trauma. The trauma does not have to affect the person physically. Some trauma is witnessing something like a severe death. In other cases it is being in a car accident that was particularly gruesome.
It is hard to calculate who will suffer from PTSD. The symptoms can accrue over time or they can be present soon after the incident. Often individuals think they are not strong if they suffer from PTSD. However, during the occurrence many faced what occurred and it is later and thinking about it that affects them the most.
