Edema is a medical term for a disease individuals may suffer. Edema is an abnormal accumulation of fluid under the skin. This can happen in a body cavity. Typically interstitial fluid builds up because it has nowhere to drain then the edema forms. An edema can form by the eye, ears, and other places in the body.
It is relatively easy to fix an edema as long as the person knows it is there and they seek medical help. Usually the medical doctor will drain the fluid from the infected area, look for a cause of the fluid and repair any damage. They also prescribe medication for the inflammation and to ensure infection will not set in as a result of the edema. Some can form in the heart or other organs which are harder to locate.
