Strategic viewpoints can also be referred to as thought leadership. In thought leadership strategic viewpoints are offered by the manager or the person in charge of innovation to determine where the company should move next for new products or services.
Strategic viewpoints do not have to be about leadership though. They can also be about employees who offer their own viewpoints on a project. For example in an innovation team there will be many thinkers. These individuals will offer strategic viewpoints on how a project may be started, the follow through, and of course the overall design. Strategic viewpoints discuss the strategy one must take in a project in order to succeed. Without strategy it is hard to have follow thru on a project.
